Capstone Project: DMG Cell Conversion

Project Description

The objective of this capstone project was to develop an automated robotic work-cell that enables an operator to use an ABB robot to transfer parts of varying sizes to a work holding jaw in a CNC machine for machining, and subsequently store the part in a designated rack.

The DMG cell conversion consists of the following devices and tools:

  1. Adjustable robotic gripper tool

  2. CNC work-holding jaw

  3. Automated adjustable rack

  4. ABB model 1200
